Dhoni, who has not featured in the tournament so far, was initially ruled out for the first two weeks of the season. Although that period has passed, he is yet to receive full medical clearance to return to competitive cricket.

The 44-year-old has resumed light training and has been seen taking throwdowns in the nets. However, he has not yet returned to full-intensity practice or wicketkeeping duties, indicating that he is still in the final stages of recovery. In a positive development for CSK, Dhoni travelled with the squad to Hyderabad — his first away trip of the season — signalling that his return could be imminent.
Reports suggest that the franchise may take a cautious approach and could target his return in the upcoming fixture against Mumbai Indians later this month.
Given Dhoni’s importance to the side and the length of the tournament, Chennai Super Kings are unlikely to rush him back without complete fitness clearance.
