IPL 2026, KKR vs LSG Match: Cameron Green is expected to resume bowling for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, April 8, 2026, according to media reports.
The development comes as a boost for KKR, who are still searching for their first win of the season after a slow start to their campaign.
Green, who has been recovering from a lower-back injury, has not bowled in the tournament so far despite featuring in matches. According to ESPNcricinfo, the Australian all-rounder is now likely to begin bowling duties in Thursday’s game.
KKR have played three matches in IPL 2026, managing just one point after two losses and one washed-out game against the Punjab Kings due to rain in Kolkata. In their earlier matches against the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Green did not bowl.
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane had earlier said the timeline for Green’s return to bowling was dependent on Cricket Australia.
“Ask Cricket Australia,” Rahane had said when questioned about Green’s availability as a bowler.
Cricket Australia, in response, said the franchise had been informed about the player’s recovery plan.
“Cameron has a lower-back injury, which is being managed, but requires him to abstain from bowling for a short period,” a Cricket Australia spokesperson said earlier. “"Cameron is currently rebuilding his bowling loads in India with a view to returning in around 10-12 days. KKR has been communicated with and is fully aware of this information.”
KKR’s bowling unit has struggled in the absence of key players, including Mustafizur Rahman. Fast bowlers Harshit Rana and Akash Deep have been ruled out due to injuries, while Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana is yet to join the squad.
The lack of experienced options has forced KKR to field an inexperienced bowling attack, making Green’s return to bowling a timely boost.
KKR will look to improve their bowling balance and secure their first win when they take on LSG in the evening fixture.
