IPL 2026, MI vs RR Today Match: Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League 2026 clash at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Tuesday after rain delayed the start. The toss, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. IST, took place later in the evening after conditions improved. The revised start time for the match has been set for 10:10 p.m. local time.

The match has been reduced to 11 overs per side due to earlier showers, with the powerplay set at 3.2 overs.

Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya said the decision to field first was influenced by the conditions.

“In rain-affected games, you prefer chasing as it gives clarity on the target,” Pandya said, adding that both he and Trent Boult returned to the playing XI.

Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag said his side would have opted to bowl as well, citing moisture on the surface after rain. He confirmed that Rajasthan are unchanged from their previous match.

“I think we would have done the same. There’s a bit of moisture, but it shouldn’t matter much in an 11-over game,” Parag said.

Pitch Report

The pitch at Barsapara Cricket Stadium is expected to offer a balanced contest, though conditions under lights after rain could slightly favor the bowlers early on. Seamers are likely to get some movement with the new ball due to moisture on the surface, making the initial overs crucial for both sides. As the match progresses, the pitch should settle, allowing batters to play their shots more freely. However, in a shortened 11-over contest, stroke-making from the outset will be key, and teams may look to capitalize quickly before conditions change.
