IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma is reportedly set to undergo scans after sustaining a hamstring injury during the team’s clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 20 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

Rohit picked up the injury while batting during Mumbai Indians’ steep chase of 241. The veteran opener, who was looking in good touch alongside Ryan Rickelton, appeared uncomfortable while running between the wickets in the sixth over.

The 38-year-old was batting on an unbeaten 19 off 13 deliveries when he decided to retire hurt and walk off the field. He did not return to bat later in the innings, raising concerns within the Mumbai Indians camp.

The extent of the injury will be determined after medical scans, but Rohit’s participation in Mumbai Indians’ next match against Punjab Kings on April 16 remains uncertain.

If ruled out, it would come as a major setback for Mumbai, who are already struggling for consistency this season and need experienced players to step up. The opener has shown glimpses of form, scoring 78, 35, 5 and 19* in four matches so far.

Led by Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians have managed just one win from four matches and currently sit eighth on the points table with two points.

The five-time champions will be eager to turn things around when they face Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 16, but Rohit’s fitness will remain a key factor heading into the clash.
