Pant anchored the chase with an unbeaten 68, finishing the match in the final over with three boundaries off Jaydev Unadkat to seal Lucknow’s first win of the season.

As the winning shot was struck, television cameras captured Goenka, the Lucknow franchise owner, placing his hand over his chest and appearing visibly emotional in the stands.

The reaction came days after Goenka was seen in an animated discussion with Pant and head coach Justin Langer following Lucknow’s opening loss to Delhi Capitals. The exchange had drawn attention on social media before the franchise later shared footage showing a more relaxed interaction.

Earlier, Hyderabad posted 156 for 9 after half-centuries from Heinrich Klaasen (62) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (56). Mohammed Shami led the bowling effort for Lucknow with figures of 2 for 9, while Prince Yadav and Avesh Khan claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Aiden Markram contributed 45 at the top before Pant controlled the chase under pressure to take the team home in the final over.

The victory moved Lucknow to seventh place in the standings with two points from two matches. They will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9.
