IPL 2026 Schedule Time Table: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the schedule for the first phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The 19th edition of the tournament will begin on March 28 and run until May 31 across multiple venues in India. The opening match will feature Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Following the opening match, Mumbai Indians will face Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29.
According to the BCCI, the first phase of the 19th edition of the T20 league will run from March 28 to April 12 and will feature 20 matches across 10 venues. The cities hosting games during this period are Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, New Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. The board said the complete schedule of the tournament will be released after the announcement of poll dates, as several states are expected to hold Assembly elections during the same period.
Four double-headers are scheduled during the opening phase of the tournament. Afternoon matches will begin at 3:30 p.m. IST, while evening games will start at 7:30 p.m. IST.
The first double-header of the season is scheduled for April 4. Delhi Capitals will take on Mumbai Indians in the afternoon match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. In the evening match, Gujarat Titans will face Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Rajasthan Royals will begin their home campaign in Guwahati, where they will host Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Punjab Kings will play their early home matches at the PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.
During the season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru are scheduled to play five home matches in Bengaluru and two in Raipur. Punjab Kings will host four matches in New Chandigarh and three in Dharamshala, while Rajasthan Royals will play three home games in Guwahati and four in Jaipur.
Matches scheduled in Bengaluru are subject to clearance from an expert committee formed by the Karnataka government. The committee is expected to inspect the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 13, including a full-scale mock demonstration of match-day arrangements to assess the venue’s readiness to host IPL matches.
