Chasing 165, Gujarat Titans completed the task with ease, reaching 165/3 in 18.4 overs, courtesy of a commanding second-wicket partnership that kept the required rate well under control.
Gujarat began on a steady note, with Gill and Sai Sudharsan building a solid platform. Sudharsan fell early, but that proved to be the only breakthrough for Lucknow during the powerplay as the visitors reached 52/1 after six overs.
Gill then took charge of the chase, anchoring the innings with a composed 56 off 40 balls. He mixed timing with controlled aggression and shifted momentum with a 20-run over against Mohammed Shami.
At the other end, Buttler accelerated after a cautious start and turned the game decisively in Gujarat’s favour. The England batter brought up his 100th T20 fifty in 34 balls and finished with a match-winning 60 off 37 deliveries, striking 11 boundaries.
The pair added a crucial partnership that took Gujarat to 128/1 by the 14th over, effectively sealing the contest. Though Lucknow picked up the wickets of Gill and Buttler in quick succession, the target had already been reduced to a manageable equation.
Rahul Tewatia and Washington Sundar then guided the side home, with Sundar finishing unbeaten on 21 to seal the win.
Earlier, Gujarat’s bowlers set up the victory with a disciplined performance to restrict Lucknow to 164/8.
Prasidh Krishna was the standout performer with figures of 4/28, consistently troubling the batters with his variations. Mohammed Siraj and Ashok Sharma provided support with key breakthroughs.
Lucknow had started well, racing to 60/2 in the powerplay, with Aiden Markram anchoring the innings with 30. However, regular wickets through the middle overs halted their progress as Nicholas Pooran and Abdul Samad failed to accelerate.
A late flourish from the lower order, including contributions from Mukul Choudhary and George Linde, along with a strong final over from Shami, helped Lucknow push their total past 160, but it proved insufficient against Gujarat’s clinical chase.
