Buttler counterattacked with 52 off 27 balls, reaching his half-century in 24 deliveries before he was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav.
Gill then added 104 runs for the third wicket with Sundar to steady the innings and maintain momentum. Gill hit four fours and five sixes in his 45-ball knock before he was caught off Lungi Ngidi.
Sundar made 55 off 32 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes, before falling in the later overs while trying to accelerate.
Late contributions from Glenn Phillips and Rahul Tewatia helped Gujarat finish strongly.
Mukesh Kumar took two wickets for Delhi, while Ngidi and Kuldeep Yadav picked up one each.
Delhi, unbeaten so far in the tournament, needs 211 runs for victory, while Gujarat is seeking its first win of the season.
