IPL 2026: Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Tim David has been fined 30 per cent of his match fee and handed two demerit points for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 54 of the Indian Premier League 2026 against Mumbai Indians at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Tim David breached Article 2.6 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to “using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting.” The Australian all-rounder admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Amit Sharma.

David came under scrutiny after television cameras captured him making an offensive gesture from the dugout following RCB’s thrilling last-ball win over Mumbai Indians. The clip quickly went viral across social media platforms.

RCB secured a dramatic two-wicket victory after Rasikh Salam Dar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar completed two runs off the final delivery of the chase. The win lifted Bengaluru to the top of the IPL 2026 points table, while the defeat officially ended Mumbai Indians’ playoff hopes.

Earlier in the match, Mumbai Indians posted 166 for seven after being put into bat. Tilak Varma top-scored with 57, while Naman Dhir contributed 47 runs.

Mumbai bowlers reduced RCB to early trouble by claiming three wickets inside the powerplay. However, Krunal Pandya played a match-winning knock of 73 to revive Bengaluru’s chase before the visitors sealed victory in dramatic fashion.

RCB head coach Andy Flower was also penalised following the match. Flower was fined 15 per cent of his match fee for breaching Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with the use of an audible obscenity during a match after an animated exchange with the fourth umpire.
