IPL 2026, KKR vs PBKS Today Match: Rain disruption during the Indian Premier League 2026 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens has brought attention to the cut-off timings for a shortened game. According to IPL playing conditions, a match must have at least five overs per side to produce a result. For a five-over contest to be possible, play must begin before the final cut-off time of approximately 11:14 p.m. IST.

A standard match scheduled for 7:30 p.m. IST is expected to finish by 10:50 p.m., with an additional 60 minutes allocated to account for rain delays. If play cannot resume in time to complete a minimum five-over-a-side game, the match will be abandoned and both teams will share one point.

The match in Kolkata was halted early in the first innings with Kolkata struggling at 25 for 2 in 3.4 overs after opting to bat. Xavier Bartlett struck twice to dismiss Finn Allen and Cameron Green, leaving Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi at the crease.

Kolkata, who are yet to win this season, made two forced changes with Varun Chakaravarthy ruled out due to injury and Sunil Narine unavailable due to illness. Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, entered the match unchanged and unbeaten in the tournament so far.

With rain continuing to threaten proceedings, match officials are closely monitoring conditions to determine whether a shortened game is possible.
