IPL 2026, RCB vs MI Today Match: Rohit Sharma sparked concern after walking off the field retired hurt during Mumbai Indians’ chase against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 20 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

Rohit, who was batting on 19 off 13 balls, looked in decent touch before leaving the field midway through the innings. His exit came as a major blow for Mumbai Indians, who were chasing a daunting 241-run target.

According to reports, the veteran opener experienced discomfort in his hamstring while running between the wickets. Sensing the risk of aggravating the injury, Rohit opted to retire hurt as a precautionary measure.

As per MCC Law 25.4, a batter who leaves the field due to injury or illness is classified as ‘retired not out’ and can resume batting after informing the umpires. He can return once a wicket falls or if another batter retires.

This means Mumbai Indians still have the option of bringing Rohit back if his condition improves and the situation demands his presence at the crease.

The development came as a setback for the hosts, who are looking to snap a two-match losing streak in the tournament.

Earlier, RCB produced a commanding batting display to post 240 for 4 in 20 overs. Phil Salt led the charge with a blistering 78 off 36 balls, while Virat Kohli anchored the innings with a composed 50 off 38 deliveries. The duo stitched a dominant 120-run opening partnership to set the platform.

Captain Rajat Patidar then accelerated the scoring with a rapid 53 off just 20 balls, keeping the momentum firmly in RCB’s favour. Tim David added the finishing touch with an unbeaten 35.

MI vs RCB IPL 2026 1st Innings Brief Score: Royal Challengers Bengaluru 240/4 in 20 overs (Phil Salt 78, Virat Kohli 50, Rajat Patidar 53, Tim David 35*).
