The 42-year-old has been undergoing rehabilitation in Chennai and has recently resumed practice sessions with the squad. However, he was not deemed fit enough to return for today’s match.
In Dhoni’s absence, Sanju Samson has taken over wicketkeeping responsibilities for Chennai, while the team continues to search for its first win of the season under captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Reports suggest that Dhoni could return for CSK’s upcoming fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders, although no official confirmation has been provided by the franchise.
