IPL 2026, RC vs MI Match: Tim David of Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the Indian Premier League Code of Conduct during Match 20 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
David was found guilty of a Level 1 offence under Article 2.4, which relates to “disobeying an umpire’s instruction during a match.”
What Happened?
The incident occurred twice during RCB’s batting innings. In the 18th over (17.2), David insisted on inspecting the ball after the umpires decided to change it and delayed handing it back despite repeated instructions.
A similar situation unfolded in the final over (19.2), when he again failed to promptly return the ball to the umpires, resulting in a second breach.
David admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee.
Hardik Pandya Fined
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya, captain of Mumbai Indians, has been fined ₹12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match.
This was Mumbai’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate violations.
The disciplinary actions came after a high-scoring encounter in which Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted 240/4 and went on to defeat Mumbai Indians by 18 runs.
