IPL 2026, LSG vs DC: Arjun Tendulkar faces a tough selection call as Lucknow Super Giants prepare to take on Delhi Capitals in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 opener on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Tendulkar, who moved from Mumbai Indians to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the season, has attracted attention following the trade. However, his place in the playing XI remains uncertain.

Lucknow, led by Rishabh Pant, enter the new season with a fully fit squad after struggling with injuries last year. The team has strengthened its pace attack with the addition of Mohammed Shami and Anrich Nortje, while Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan have returned from injury.

Tendulkar faces competition from several fast bowlers, including Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan. Young players such as Prince Yadav, Akash Singh, Naman Tiwari and Arshin Kulkarni are also in contention.

The left-arm fast-bowling allrounder, son of former India great Sachin Tendulkar, had limited chances during his stint with Mumbai Indians. He made his IPL debut in 2023 and played five matches, taking three wickets. The 24-year-old has a solid domestic record, with 35 wickets in T20 cricket and a century in first-class cricket.

Speaking in a recent interview, Tendulkar acknowledged the challenges of limited opportunities but said he remains focused on performing when selected. “No one wants to sit on the bench. But we want to work hard and perform when we get a chance,” he said.

Lucknow Super Giants are yet to finalize their playing XI, with Tendulkar’s inclusion likely to depend on team balance and conditions at the Ekana Stadium.
