IPL 2026, RCB vs RR Today Match: Royal Challengers Bengaluru are unlikely to include Jacob Bethell in their playing XI for the upcoming Match 16 of the Indian Premier League 2026 against Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Friday, April 10, 2026.

RCB have made a strong start to their title defence, winning both of their opening matches, and are expected to retain a largely unchanged lineup for the clash against an in-form Rajasthan side.

Bethell, who was retained after being picked in the IPL 2025 mega auction, has been in impressive form across formats, including a standout performance in the recent T20 World Cup. The young England all-rounder had also scored a half-century for RCB in limited opportunities last season.

However, his inclusion in the playing XI appears unlikely at this stage due to the team’s settled overseas combination. Bengaluru have been fielding Phil Salt, Tim David, Romario Shepherd and Jacob Duffy as their four overseas players in the first two matches.

The potential return of Josh Hazlewood, who is expected to be fit after recovering from injury, could further tighten competition for overseas slots. If included, Hazlewood is likely to replace one of the current overseas players, leaving little room for additional changes.

RCB’s top order has also delivered consistently, with Devdutt Padikkal providing a left-handed option and contributing back-to-back fifties. This stability reduces the likelihood of experimenting with the batting combination.

Given the current team balance and strong performances, Bethell may have to wait for his opportunity as the tournament progresses. Team management is expected to continue with the winning combination unless conditions or injuries necessitate a change.
