IPL 2026, PBKS vs CSK Today Match: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could once again be without veteran wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni for their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday,  April 3, 2026.

The 44-year-old missed CSK’s season opener against Rajasthan Royals after sustaining the injury during a pre-season training session at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Team sources indicate Dhoni is expected to remain sidelined for at least the first two to three weeks of the tournament.

However, there were encouraging signs during CSK’s recent practice session. Dhoni was seen batting in the nets and appeared in good touch, playing a range of shots, including a trademark no-look six. Despite the progress, the CSK management is unlikely to rush his return given his age and the need to manage workload carefully.

In his absence, Sanju Samson is expected to continue handling wicketkeeping duties.

CSK enter the contest under pressure after suffering a heavy defeat to Rajasthan Royals in their opening match. Playing at home in Chepauk, they will look to bounce back against a Punjab side coming off a narrow win over Gujarat Titans.

For now, all signs suggest Dhoni will miss another game, with CSK prioritizing his full recovery over an early return.
