Gill had missed Gujarat’s narrow six-run loss to Rajasthan Royals, where Rashid Khan stepped in as stand-in captain. The opener was seen with heavy strapping around his shoulder and neck during that game, raising concerns about his fitness.
However, ahead of the Delhi fixture at Arun Jaitley Stadium, teammate Sai Sudharsan confirmed that Gill has regained fitness and is available for selection.
Gujarat, still searching for its first win of the season after two consecutive defeats, is expected to be boosted by Gill’s return at the top of the order. He had scored 39 in the season opener against Punjab Kings before the team slipped to a loss.
In Gill’s absence, Gujarat experimented with its opening combination, but his return is likely to restore stability alongside Sudharsan.
Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, come into the match with momentum, having won their first two games of the campaign, including successful chases against Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians.
With Gill fit again, Gujarat will look to turn their campaign around and secure their first points of IPL 2026.
