IPL 2026, KKR vs LSG Today Match: Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Sunil Narine is likely to return to the playing XI for their Indian Premier League 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 9 at Eden Gardens after recovering from illness.

Narine missed Kolkata’s previous match against Punjab Kings, which was abandoned due to rain, but has resumed training ahead of Thursday’s fixture. His return comes as a timely boost for a side that has struggled early in the tournament.

The team currently sits seventh in the standings, ahead of Chennai Super Kings, and is under early pressure after losing two of their opening matches.

The absence of Narine in that match exposed a major gap in the spin department. It was the first time since 2019 that neither Narine nor Varun Chakravarthy featured in the playing XI. Young spinner Anukul Roy was left to handle the spin responsibilities alone.

Chakravarthy, meanwhile, remains a doubt due to a left-hand injury. He has been seen training with heavy strapping, raising concerns over his match fitness ahead of the LSG clash.

In another positive development, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has also provided encouraging signs by resuming bowling in training. His availability as a bowling option could offer added flexibility to captain Ajinkya Rahane, particularly in the middle overs.

The final decision on Narine’s inclusion is expected at the toss, but all signs indicate he could be back in the playing XI for this crucial encounter.
