India National Cricket Team vs Pakistan National Cricket Team Match Scorecard: India opener Ishan Kishan continued his fine form in T20 internationals with a fluent half-century against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday. Playing at the R Premadasa Stadium, the left-hander stepped up after India lost Abhishek Sharma for a duck in the opening over. Kishan counter-attacked straightaway and set the tone for the innings.

With the large boundaries in Colombo, India focused on finding gaps rather than taking risks. Kishan did exactly that, mixing smart placement with clean hitting. He signalled his intent by hitting a six off the first ball he faced from Shaheen Afridi.

Batting alongside Tilak Varma, who played the supporting role, Kishan took on the Pakistan spinners and kept the scoring rate high. He scored 42 runs inside the powerplay as India reached 52 for 1 after six overs.

Kishan’s 42 in the powerplay is the highest by an Indian batter in India-Pakistan T20Is, going past the previous mark of 35 by Shubman Gill in the Asia Cup 2025.

Kishan went on to complete his second half-century of the tournament and looked set for a bigger score. However, Pakistan finally found relief in the ninth over. At 8.4 overs, Saim Ayub bowled a slower delivery on a good length that gripped off the surface. Kishan backed away towards the leg side but could not adjust. The ball turned in and clipped the top of middle and leg stump, ending a superb knock.

Kishan walked back to applause after scoring 77 off 40 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes. His innings came on a challenging pitch and gave India a strong platform in a high-pressure contest.

This was Kishan’s second half-century of the tournament. He came into the match after a strong outing against Namibia, where he scored 61 off 24 balls. Last month, the 27-year-old also hit his maiden T20I century against New Zealand.

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, came into the match after wins over the USA and Namibia. Pakistan had also won their first two group matches. India will look to extend their recent strong record against Pakistan as the tournament progresses.
