The left-handed batter struck 103 off 43 balls, reaching the landmark from 42 deliveries. His innings included six fours and 10 sixes and came in the 17th over of India’s innings.

Kishan was involved in a 137-run partnership for the third wicket with captain Suryakumar Yadav, the second-highest stand for any wicket by India against New Zealand. The highest remains the 158-run opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan in 2017.

Kishan began cautiously, scoring 18 off his first 16 balls, before accelerating against the spinners. He took on Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner, including a 28-run over off Sodhi in the 12th over.

After Suryakumar’s dismissal, Kishan completed his century before being out in the 18th over. He was caught by Glenn Phillips at deep midwicket off a short ball from Jacob Duffy.

The century was Kishan’s first for India in T20 internationals and his seventh hundred overall in T20 cricket. The knock also marked his fastest century against New Zealand and the fifth-fastest T20I hundred by an Indian batter.

Kishan has now scored 1,011 runs in 36 T20 internationals for India, including seven half-centuries. He finished the series against New Zealand with 215 runs from four matches.
