India National Cricket Team vs England Cricket Team Match: Jasprit Bumrah is on the brink of a major milestone as he prepares to lead India’s pace attack in the semi-final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Bumrah needs just one wicket to complete 500 international wickets for India. If he reaches the mark, he will become only the eighth Indian bowler to achieve the feat.

The list is currently led by Anil Kumble with 953 wickets, followed by Ravichandran Ashwin (765), Harbhajan Singh (707), Kapil Dev (687), Ravindra Jadeja (634), Zaheer Khan (597) and Javagal Srinath (551).

Bumrah has taken 499 wickets in 234 international matches since making his debut against Australia in Sydney in January 2016. He has claimed 234 wickets in 52 Tests, 149 in 89 One-Day Internationals and 116 in 93 Twenty20 Internationals. His best bowling figures in international cricket are 6 for 19, and he has 18 five-wicket hauls.

The 32-year-old from Ahmedabad has been a key performer in the ongoing tournament. In six matches, he has picked up nine wickets. He was India’s leading wicket-taker in the Super 8 clashes against South Africa and West Indies.

Bumrah also made an early impact in the group-stage match against Pakistan at R. Premadasa Stadium, dismissing Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha in his opening over.

He is currently India’s joint-highest wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history. Bumrah has taken 35 wickets in 24 matches in the tournament. If he claims four wickets against England, he will surpass Anrich Nortje’s record of 38 wickets, the most by a fast bowler in the history of the men’s T20 World Cup.

Nortje has taken 38 wickets in 21 matches for South Africa. Bumrah will now look to add to his tally as India aim to secure a place in the final.
