Team India and Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for another fitness assessment ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). The 31-year-old is seeking clearance regarding his availability for the tournament, whether partial or full, according to Cricbuzz.
According to reports, in his second stint at the NCA, Bumrah will undergo further bowling sessions. He will receive clearance if he shows no signs of pain or discomfort. However, it is expected to take at least another week before he is deemed match fit, which means he is likely to miss Mumbai Indians’ first couple of games.
Bumrah has been out of action since the fifth Border-Gavaskar Test between India and Australia in Sydney. During his initial visit to the NCA, he experienced pain and discomfort while bowling. As a result, the NCA recommended specific exercises and advised him to return for further evaluation. Reports suggest there is some optimism around his progress
The franchise will play its opening match against Chennai Super Kings on March 23 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
