Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli is on the verge of a historic milestone as he prepares to play his 400th T20 match. Kohli will achieve the feat when RCB faces defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2025 opener at Eden Gardens on Saturday.
The former RCB captain will become only the third Indian cricketer to reach the 400-match mark in T20 cricket. He joins an elite group that includes Rohit Sharma, who has played 448 matches, and Dinesh Karthik, who has featured in 412. MS Dhoni follows with 391 appearances, while Suresh Raina has played 336 matches.

Globally, Kieron Pollard holds the record for the most T20 matches with 695 appearances. Dwayne Bravo, Shoaib Malik, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine complete the top five.
Kohli remains the leading run-scorer in IPL history with 8,004 runs in 252 matches. He has won the Orange Cap twice, scoring 973 runs in 2016 and 741 runs in 2024. Shikhar Dhawan is the second-highest IPL run-scorer with 6,769 runs.
