Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured their first win of the IPL 2025 season with a five-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. Chasing down a target of 152, KKR reached 153/2 in 17.3 overs.
Quinton de Kock led the charge for KKR with a brilliant half-century, anchoring the chase. He was supported by Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who helped guide the team home. KKR's bowlers, particularly Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali, played key roles in restricting RR to just 151/9.
RR made a strong start to their innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson. However, the team lost wickets in quick succession, including a key dismissal of Nitish Rana. Despite a late surge from Dhruv Jurel, who scored 33, and a strong finish from Jofra Archer, RR could only post 151/9 in their 20 overs.
Despite controlling the game, KKR started cautiously in their chase. They posted 40/0 after the Powerplay. With this win, KKR opened their account after losing their season opener to RCB. RR, on the other hand, suffered their second consecutive defeat after falling to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match.
