Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma, brand ambassador of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, was seen interacting with actors from the popular Marathi TV show Maharashtracha Chi Hasya Jatra during a lunch meet in Mumbai. In a video shared on social media, the 38-year-old former captain was all smiles as he chatted in Marathi with Namrata Sambherao, Prasad Khandekar and Onkar Raut.

Rohit, who retired from T20 internationals after leading India to their second T20 World Cup win in 2024, spoke to the actors in Marathi, saying, “Mumbai madhe rahto, Marathi tar yenar” (Since I live in Mumbai, I should definitely speak Marathi). The clip received widespread praise on social media for his warmth and ease with the language.

The former India  captain recently returned from Colombo, where he was present ahead of India’s T20 World Cup clash against Pakistan. During the tournament, he was seen motivating the team and participating in ceremonial events, including presenting the trophy at India’s opening match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The veteran batter last played earlier this year in India’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand. He scored 61 runs in three innings at an average of 20.33, with a highest score of 26, as India lost the series 2-1.

The Mumbai-born cricketer will return to competitive action in the 2026 Indian Premier League, which begins March 26, representing the Mumbai Indians. He has been with the franchise since 2011 and led it to five IPL titles before Hardik Pandya replaced him as captain ahead of the 2024 season.
