India National Cricket Team vs England Cricket Team Match: Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu criticized Mohammed Amir after India reached the final of the T20 World Cup. Sidhu called Amir a “Dhongi Baba,” taking a dig at the fast bowler’s earlier predictions that India would be knocked out of the tournament. “People around us have a big habit of making fake predictions. If it comes true, good; if not, they just brush it off. If it works, they call it an arrow; if not, they say it was just a guess. And still they continue to act like some kind of wise baba. Honestly, I think such people are just dhongi babas,” Sidhu said in a video shared on Instagram.
Sidhu also referred to Amir’s earlier claim that India would struggle in the tournament. “They said India wouldn’t even qualify or reach the semifinals. They claimed West Indies and South Africa would go ahead,” Sidhu said.
“But when Sanju Samson came back into form, both those teams were sent packing. And today they said England would win the semifinal, and England also got knocked out,” he added.
“Predictions don’t decide these things. Matches are decided on the battlefield. You don’t earn a throne by begging for it. Empty vessels make the most noise,” Sidhu said.
Before the semifinal, Amir had backed England to defeat India. However, India secured a thrilling seven-run victory in Mumbai. Samson starred with the bat, smashing 89 off 42 balls as India posted a massive 253 for 7. England responded with 246 for 7 in their 20 overs but fell short.
India will now face New Zealand in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as it looks to defend its T20 World Cup title.
