Pakistan National Cricket Team vs United States National Cricket Team Match Scorecard: Pakistan beat the United States by 32 runs in a Group A match of the T20 World Cup on Tuesday, riding on Sahibzada Farhan’s quick half-century and a disciplined spin attack. Farhan struck 73 off 41 balls to help Pakistan post 190 for nine after being asked to bat first. In reply, the USA were restricted to 158 for eight, with Pakistan’s spinners sharing seven wickets. Abrar Ahmed returned 1 for 30, Mohammad Nawaz 1 for 21, Shadab Khan 2 for 26 and Usman Tariq 3 for 27 to lead the bowling effort.
Chasing 191, the USA made a steady start through openers Shayan Jahangir and Andries Gous. The pair took the score to 42 in the fifth over before Gous was caught in the deep by Salman Agha off Nawaz for 13. The USA finished the power play at 50 for one. However, the introduction of spin slowed the scoring. In the next four overs, the USA managed only 18 runs and lost captain Monank Patel, who was caught and bowled by Shadab. Jahangir, who made 49 off 34 balls, also fell to Shadab, caught by Shaheen Shah Afridi at midwicket.
Shubham Ranjane tried to keep the chase alive with 51 off 30 balls. He added 66 runs for the fourth wicket with Milind Kumar, who scored 23. But the required rate kept rising, and despite some late boundaries, the USA fell short. The team had beaten Pakistan in the previous edition of the tournament.
Earlier, Pakistan started strongly and reached 56 without loss in five overs. But pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk (4 for 25) struck twice in the sixth over, dismissing Saim Ayub and captain Salman Agha within five deliveries.
Pakistan slipped to 56 for two after the power play before Farhan and Babar Azam rebuilt the innings. The pair added 81 runs for the third wicket.
Farhan played the attacking role, hitting sixes freely and bringing up his ninth T20 half-century, and his first in a T20 World Cup, off 27 balls. Babar made 46 off 32 balls. He took time to settle but later struck a six and two fours off Harmeet Singh in one over as Pakistan’s scoring rate improved.
Babar was eventually caught in the deep by Milind Kumar off Mohammad Mohsin. Farhan soon followed, falling to Harmeet, who was well caught near the long-off boundary by Sanjay Krishnamurthi.
Shadab then added late momentum with 30 off 12 balls, helping Pakistan reach a competitive total despite losing wickets in the closing overs.
The win keeps Pakistan in contention in Group A as the tournament progresses.
