During the interaction, a reporter appeared to confuse Bennett’s identity while asking a question about his missed century, but the exchange quickly shifted tone as his witty response left the room amused.“

Bennett had a good chance to score a century. A century in a World Cup is always special. Why your batters did not give him a chance to score a century?” the reporter asked. A surprised Bennett replied, “Pardon? I’m Bennett.”

India registered a 72-run win after posting 256 for four. In reply, Zimbabwe fought hard but finished on 184 for six. Bennett was the standout performer for Zimbabwe.

The right-hander remained unbeaten on 97 off 59 balls, hitting eight fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 164.41. He fell just three runs short of a maiden World Cup century.

 Despite the defeat, Bennett has been one of the leading performers of the tournament. He is Zimbabwe’s highest run-scorer and currently the second-highest overall in the competition.
