A brilliant half-century from left-hand batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and an unbeaten cameo from right-hand batter Riyan Parag guided Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a commanding total of 205/4 in their 20 overs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. PBKS captain, who won the toss, opted to bowl first. Openers Sanju Samson and Jaiswal started aggressively for RR, taking the team to 50 runs in the second ball of the sixth over. Samson smashed a boundary off off-spinner Glenn Maxwell. The pair put on a fiery 89-run partnership before Samson was dismissed for 38 from 26 balls, including six fours. Lockie Ferguson claimed the breakthrough as RR stood at 89/1 after 10.2 overs.

Following Samson's dismissal, Riyan Parag joined Jaiswal in the middle. The Royals crossed 100 runs in the 12th over, with Jaiswal completing his fifty, his first of the 2025 season. In the 14th over, Jaiswal was dismissed for 67 runs off 45 balls, which included three fours and five sixes.

Nitish Rana replaced Jaiswal but was dismissed for just 12 runs in the 15th over, leaving RR at 138/3. Shimron Hetmyer then joined Parag, and the duo took the team past 150 in the 16th over with Parag hitting a boundary off Arshdeep Singh. Hetmyer fell in the 19th over, dismissed by Arshdeep with the score at 185.

RR finished their innings at 205/4 after 20 overs, with Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel remaining unbeaten. Lockie Ferguson was the standout bowler for PBKS, claiming two wickets for 37 runs in his four-over spell. Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen also picked up one wicket each.
