South Africa National Cricket Team vs Afghanistan National Cricket Team Match: Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz was left heartbroken after his team lost a dramatic double Super Over to South Africa in a Group D clash of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Gurbaz, who scored a brilliant 84 off 42 balls, sat alone near the boundary after Afghanistan fell just short, tears rolling down his face as South Africa celebrated a sensational win.

Afghanistan was chasing 188 after South Africa posted 187 for six, anchored by Quinton de Kock’s 59 and Ryan Rickelton’s 61. The first Super Over ended in a tie. Afghanistan batted first, scoring 17 without loss, with Azmatullah Omarzai hitting a six and two fours. South Africa matched the target on the last ball, with Tristan Stubbs hitting a six to force a second Super Over.

In the second Super Over, South Africa set 24 runs to win, with David Miller scoring 16 and Stubbs adding seven. Gurbaz smashed three sixes off the first three balls, bringing Afghanistan close, but was dismissed on the fourth delivery with five runs needed, handing South Africa the victory.

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan praised Gurbaz after the match. “Amazing innings; that’s what he’s famous for. He played amazing under pressure,” Khan said.

The loss leaves Afghanistan’s Super 8 hopes hanging. New Zealand and South Africa, with four points each, top Group D after winning their first two matches. Afghanistan must win their remaining games against the UAE and Canada and hope for favorable results to advance.
