Bengaluru-based rapper Hanumankind had a special fan moment after meeting cricketer Virat Kohli at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Unboxing event at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, March 17, 2025. The rapper shared a picture of their meeting on Instagram with the caption, “Met the GOAT today.” Kohli and Hanumankind, both wearing RCB jerseys, posed for the camera and shared a warm hug.

The RCB Unbox event is a pre-season celebration held by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the IPL season. The annual event gives fans an opportunity to meet their favourite players and watch them participate in an open-for-all training session.
RCB will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22. Kohli, in good form ahead of the season, was India’s second-highest run-scorer in the 2025 Champions Trophy with 218 runs from five games. He averaged 54.50, with one century and one half-century.
In the previous IPL season, where RCB made the playoffs, Kohli scored 741 runs from 15 matches, including one century and five fifties. He is the leading run-scorer in IPL history with over 8,000 career runs.
Though Kohli was expected to lead RCB after Faf du Plessis’ release, the franchise announced Rajat Patidar as the captain for IPL 2025. Kohli, now without the pressure of captaincy, will aim to replicate his strong form from last season. Despite reaching the final three times, RCB is yet to win an IPL title.
