As the M Chinnaswamy Stadium prepares to host its first Indian Premier League (IPL) match since the tragic events of last summer, in the city, Bengaluru Traffic Police on Thursday issued a detailed advisory outlining traffic restrictions and parking arrangements around the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to ensure smooth vehicular movement. The IPL matches are scheduled to be held on March 28 and April 5 at the stadium, and authorities expect large crowds on both days. According to the advisory, parking will be strictly prohibited on several major roads around the stadium. These include Queens Road, MG Road, Cubbon Road, St Mark’s Road, Museum Road, Kasturba Road, Lavelle Road, Vittal Mallya Road, as well as stretches within Cubbon Park.

To accommodate spectators, the police have designated multiple parking locations. These include St Joseph’s Indian High School Ground, St Joseph’s European School Ground, Freedom Park multi-level parking facility, Garuda Mall, UB City parking area, and the first floor of Shivajinagar Bus Stand. Authorities have also detailed the entry and exit arrangements for spectators. Entry to the stadium will be allowed through multiple gates located on Cubbon Road, Link Road, and Queens Road, while specific gates have been reserved for exits and VIP movement.

For those using app-based taxi services or autorickshaws, pick-up points have been designated at BRV Ground and Manekshaw Parade Ground, while drop-offs will be allowed near Gate-6 and Gate-3 of the stadium. Bengaluru Traffic Police have urged the public to avoid bringing private vehicles where possible and instead use public transport such as BMTC buses and Metro services to reduce congestion.

Speaking about the arrangements, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said authorities have strengthened safety measures inside and around the stadium. “The number of exits, ambulances, and fire engines has been increased. No one without a ticket will be allowed inside the stadium,” he said. Police said the traffic measures are aimed at ensuring smooth crowd management and minimal disruption to commuters during the high-profile matches at M.
