Indian Cricket Team Captain Rohit Sharma might not participate in India’s Test series against England that will be held later in 2025. The Indian Captain has decided not to play in the upcoming series after his bland performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He might be replaced by cricketer Virat Kohli, reported India Today.
Both Rohit and Kohli had a rough experience in Australia, and Rohit chose not to play in the Sydney Cricket Ground's New Year's Test.
When India was led by Jasprit Bumrah in the first Test match at Perth Stadium, Rohit did not play. However, Rohit has had trouble scoring runs in Test matches since making a comeback for the Day-Night Test at the Adelaide Oval. Rohit only managed to score 31 runs at an average of 6.20 in three games.

Since he opted out of the Sydney Test, rumors about Rohit Sharma retiring started spreading. But Rohit clarified that he had no intentions of retiring or saying goodbye to Test cricket.
"This is not a decision of retirement. I am not moving away from this game. But I decided to step away from this game because I was not able to score runs with the bat. There is no guarantee that I will score runs 2 months or 5 months from now. I have seen a lot of cricket, every minute, every second, and every day life changes. I believe that things will change, but at the same time, I have to be realistic as well. People sitting in the commentary box, or writing with a laptop in their hands, will not decide how my life goes,” Rohit had told Star Sports.
Virat Kohli scored a hundred in the second innings of the Perth Test. Both the cricketers made their comebacks in the Ranji Trophy, but there too they failed to score big.
But the tables turned a bit for them at the ICC Champions Trophy Game in Dubai as India won the cup. In the final, Rohit delivered the game-winning 76, and Virat contributed with strokes of 100 not out and 84 against Pakistan and Australia, respectively.
The inaugural Test match of India's tour of England takes place at Leeds' Headingley on June 20. The remaining four Test matches will be held at Kennington Oval, Lord's, Edgbaston, and Old Trafford.
