Farhan started cautiously, scoring 25 runs off 19 balls in the powerplay. Once settled at the crease, he accelerated, reaching his half-century in 37 balls. Along with captain Salman Aga, he put together a useful 67-run partnership for the second wicket. Farhan completed his century in the final over of the innings.
Before Farhan, only Ahmad Shahzad had scored a T20 World Cup century for Pakistan. Shahzad had remained unbeaten on 111 against Bangladesh in the 2014 edition.
