Scotland National Cricket Team vs Italy National Cricket Team Match Scorecard: Scotland delivered a commanding performance to defeat Italy by 73 runs in their opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, while Italy’s captain Wayne Madsen suffered a shoulder injury that forced him out of the game.

Asked to bat first, Scotland’s George Munsey starred with 84 runs off 49 balls, striking eight fours in the PowerPlay. He shared a 126-run opening stand with Michael Jones, who contributed 38, before both were dismissed in quick succession in the 14th and 15th overs. Brandon McMullen added a brisk 41, helping Scotland post a total of 207 for four in 20 overs.

Italy’s chase began badly when Justin Mosca was dismissed on the first ball. JJ Smuts provided a brief counterattack with three sixes and a four in the third over but fell soon after. Anthony Mosca’s dismissal in the fifth over left Italy struggling at 54 for three after the PowerPlay.

A 73-run partnership between the Manenti brothers, Ben (52) and Harry (37), steadied Italy briefly. However, a flurry of wickets by Michael Leask, who finished with four for 17, triggered a collapse. Italy were bowled out for 134 in 16.4 overs. All nine dismissals came via catches, with Munsey taking four.

Italy’s captain Madsen dislocated his left shoulder in the fourth over while attempting a diving stop and did not return to the field, raising concerns over his availability for the rest of the tournament.

Brief Scores: Scotland 207/4 (George Munsey 84, Brandon McMullen 41; Ali Hasan 4-21) beat Italy 134 all out (Ben Manenti 52, Harry Manenti 37; Michael Leask 4-17) by 73 runs.
