Shubman Gill, leading Gujarat Titans, won the toss and chose to field first against Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH, after setting the second-highest IPL total in history during their season opener, has struggled to maintain that form, failing to cross the 200-run mark in their last three matches. They will look to bounce back when hosting a confident Gujarat Titans, who recently crushed RCB in their previous match. SRH has faced a tough run, losing three consecutive games by significant margins, which has placed them at the bottom of the points table with a poor net run rate of -1.612. In contrast, the Titans sit comfortably in third place, and a big win today could potentially propel them to the top of the table.

Gujarat’s top-order, featuring Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler, has been in exceptional form, accumulating 437 runs across three matches in IPL 2025—only behind LSG’s 482. Meanwhile, SRH’s top trio—Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan—has managed just 284 runs in four games. SRH’s bowling issues have been glaring. They rank 10th in economy rate (10.83) and average (41.15), struggling particularly in the death overs where they’ve conceded 15.04 runs per over— the worst among all teams. In their recent defeat, despite a surface that favored spinners, SRH failed to exploit the conditions, allowing KKR to post a daunting 200, with 78 runs conceded in the final overs.

While Gujarat Titans aren’t flawless—averaging 12.73 runs per over in the last five overs—they’ve masked these bowling vulnerabilities with their explosive batting. Even in their opening 11-run loss to PBKS in a massive chase of 244, they pushed the opponents to the brink. Since then, they’ve bounced back with a 196-run total and a successful defense against Mumbai Indians, followed by a commanding eight-wicket victory over RCB in Bengaluru.
