Sri Lanka National Cricket Team: Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 due to a hamstring injury. Hasaranga sustained the injury during Sri Lanka’s opening match against Ireland on Sunday in Colombo. He played a key role in the win, taking three wickets. Fellow spinner Maheesh Theekshana also claimed three wickets in that game.

Sri Lanka have named Dushan Hemantha as Hasaranga’s replacement. The change has been approved by the Event Technical Committee for the tournament.

Hemantha has played three T20 internationals for Sri Lanka since making his debut against Zimbabwe last year.

Sri Lanka’s updated squad: Dasun Shanaka (c), Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara, Kusal Mendis, Kamindu Mendis, Kusal Janith Perera, Charith Asalanka, Janith Liyanage, Pavan Rathnayake, Dushan Hemantha, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Dushmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana, Pramod Madushan

Sri Lanka will play Oman next on Thursday, Feb. 12, as they look to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the Super Eight stage.
