Sri Lanka National Cricket Team: Sri Lanka fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana has been ruled out of the remainder of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup due to injury, dealing a setback to the team’s campaign.
The right-arm pacer has been replaced by Dilshan Madushanka after the tournament’s Event Technical Committee approved the change on Wednesday.
Pathirana suffered a muscle strain in his left leg during Sri Lanka’s recent match against Australia in Kandy. Medical assessments confirmed that he will not take further part in the tournament.
His absence adds to Sri Lanka’s injury concerns, with the side already without key all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.
Sri Lanka are set to face Zimbabwe in their final group-stage match in Colombo on Thursday as they aim to finish the league phase on a strong note.
