India national cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav posed with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy at the historic Adalaj Stepwell, also known as Adalaj Ni Vav, in Gandhinagar after leading the team to a 96-run victory over New Zealand national cricket team in the 2026 final. SKY visited the monument with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup trophy for a special photoshoot. Large crowds gathered around the monument complex and nearby streets to catch a glimpse of the Indian skipper. Some enthusiastic supporters even climbed terraces and walls for a better view as Yadav arrived with the trophy. Fans erupted into chants of “India, India” as the captain posed for photographs inside the complex, creating a celebratory atmosphere at the heritage site.

India defeated New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday to retain the title and secure its third T20 World Cup crown.
The trophy photoshoot at the centuries-old stepwell carried symbolic significance. The same location hosted the pre-final trophy photoshoot during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023 before India faced Australia in the final — a match the hosts lost.
Under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership, India produced a dominant performance against New Zealand, captained by Mitchell Santner, to defend its title and create multiple milestones in the tournament’s history.
With the victory, India became the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil, the first to claim consecutive titles after its triumph in 2024, and the first nation to lift the trophy three times — following earlier wins in 2007 and 2024.
After the historic win, Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Gautam Gambhir and International Cricket Council chairman Jay Shah visited the Hanuman Temple in Ahmedabad with the T20 World Cup trophy to offer prayers and seek blessings.
