After opting to bat, Sri Lanka posted 178 for seven in 20 overs. Pathum Nissanka struck eight fours in his 41-ball 62 to anchor the innings, while Pavan Rathnayake added a quick 44 off 25 balls in the closing stages.
For Zimbabwe, Graeme Cremer (2 for 27), Blessing Muzarabani (2 for 38) and Brad Evans (2 for 35) picked up two wickets each to restrict Sri Lanka below the 180-run mark.
