Australia National Cricket Team vs Sri Lanka National Cricket Team Standings: Four teams have confirmed their places in the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2026, while the battle for the remaining berths will be decided in the final round of group matches. India national cricket team, West Indies cricket team, England cricket team and South Africa national cricket team have already progressed to the second round. India became the first team from Group A to move into the next round after winning its opening three matches, including a 61-run win over Pakistan. Pakistan national cricket team now needs to beat Namibia national cricket team in its final match to ensure qualification. If it fails, United States national cricket team, which has two victories, could advance on net run rate.
Sri Lanka national cricket team became the first team from Group B to qualify after an eight-wicket win over Australia national cricket team. The defeat left Australia close to elimination. It can still qualify only if Zimbabwe national cricket team loses both its remaining matches and finishes with an inferior net run rate. If Zimbabwe wins even one of those games, Australia will be out. Australia must also ensure a better net run rate than Ireland cricket team, which can reach four points with a win over Zimbabwe.
In Group C, England secured its place with a 24-run win over Italy, registering its third consecutive victory. West Indies had already qualified with three wins from three matches. In Group D, South Africa advanced after Afghanistan national cricket team defeated UAE. New Zealand national cricket team can join South Africa by beating Canada national cricket team in its last game. A Canada win would open the door for Afghanistan, which would then need a big victory in its final match and a favourable net run rate.
