India national cricket team arrived in Ahmedabad on Friday evening ahead of the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 against the New Zealand national cricket teamat the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8, 2026. The squad flew in from Mumbai after defeating England by seven runs in a tense semi-final earlier on Thursday. The team landed at Ahmedabad airport at around 5:30 p.m. before heading to the hotel.

All-rounder Axar Patel and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah left the airport separately in their cars, while head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Suryakumar Yadav and the rest of the squad travelled together to the team hotel.

India, the defending champions, are now one win away from creating history. If they defeat New Zealand in the final on March 8, they will become the first team to win back-to-back T20 World Cup titles. The team has already achieved a milestone by reaching consecutive finals in the tournament. A victory on Sunday would further strengthen their place in the history of the competition.

Another record is also within reach. No team has previously won the T20 World Cup on home soil. With the final set to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, India have the chance to claim the title in front of their home crowd. New Zealand, however, remain a strong challenge. The team has built a reputation for delivering in knockout matches and will aim to upset the hosts in the final.
