The moment India has been waiting for.
The winning moment.
India excelled throughout the tournament, but in the high-pressure final, they brought their A-game and ended their title drought. They clinched the victory from a precarious position, securing their second T20 World Cup title. Electing to bat first, India put up a strong batting performance. Virat Kohli led the way with a crucial innings of 76 runs. Despite early wickets, the experienced batsman anchored the innings and guided India to a competitive total of 176 runs. Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27) provided valuable support.
With the ball, India chipped away at wickets consistently. Quinton de Kock (39) and Tristan Stubbs (31) threatened to chase down the target, and later Heinrich Klaasen (52) kept India on edge with a powerful display. However, Hardik Pandya's dismissal of Klaasen swung the momentum back in India's favor. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh bowled superbly, setting the stage for a thrilling final over entrusted to Pandya.
Needing to defend 16 runs, Pandya started brilliantly, removing David Miller with the first ball. The drama continued as Kagiso Rabada smashed a four, reducing the equation to nine runs from two balls. But Pandya held his nerve, dismissing Rabada on the fifth ball to spark jubilant celebrations.
