A heated exchange unfolded between Australian teammates Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell during the IPL 2025 clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday. The incident occurred in the ninth over of SRH's chase when Head hit back-to-back sixes off Maxwell. On the fifth ball of the over, Head went for another boundary but mistimed a pull shot. The ball went towards Maxwell, who responded by throwing it to the keeper. This action visibly frustrated Head, and the two players exchanged words. Head appeared angry with Maxwell's response.
As tensions escalated, Marcus Stoinis, who was fielding nearby, stepped in to support Maxwell. A fiery verbal exchange followed between the trio, adding to the intensity of the match.
Despite the altercation, SRH's chase continued with outstanding batting from Head and Abhishek Sharma. The pair put together a dominant 171-run opening partnership. Head contributed 66 runs, while Sharma played a match-winning knock of 141 runs off 55 balls, including 24 boundaries. SRH successfully chased down the target of 246 runs with five balls to spare, securing an eight-wicket victory.
