United Arab Emirates National Cricket Team: Star batter Muhammad Waseem will captain the United Arab Emirates’ 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. UAE qualified for the 20-team tournament after defeating Japan in their Super Six match at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific qualifier in Oman.
Lalchand Rajput will continue as head coach. Former Pakistan international Yasir Arafat has been appointed fast bowling coach, while Zimbabwe’s Stanley Chioza will serve as fielding coach.
The UAE have previously featured twice at the Men’s T20 World Cup, exiting at the group stage in 2014 and 2022.
Ahead of the tournament, UAE will play a two-match T20I series against Ireland. They will also feature in warm-up matches against Nepal on Feb. 3 and Italy on Feb. 6.
UAE will open their World Cup campaign against New Zealand on Feb. 10 in Chennai and will also face Canada, Afghanistan and South Africa in Group D.
