ICC Rankings Update: Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has replaced India’s Varun Chakaravarthy as the No. 1 ranked bowler in the latest International Cricket Council  (ICC) men’s T20I rankings following the conclusion of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

Chakaravarthy lost the top spot despite finishing the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets. The Indian spinner, who had held the No. 1 position since September 2025, slipped behind Rashid by 13 rating points in the updated rankings.

Chakaravarthy started the World Cup strongly, taking nine wickets in his first four matches. However, his performances dipped during the Super Eight stage and the knockout rounds. He conceded 64 runs in four overs while taking one wicket in the semifinal against England and gave away 39 runs in three overs in the final against New Zealand, though he claimed the key wicket of Tim Seifert.

Overall, Chakaravarthy finished the tournament with 14 wickets, conceding 287 runs in 31 overs at an economy rate of 9.25 and an average of 20.5.

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who produced a match-winning spell of 4 for 15 in the final, moved up one place to sixth in the rankings. Bumrah also ended the tournament with 14 wickets but with a better average of 12.42 and an economy rate of 6.21.

India all-rounder Axar Patel climbed six places to 17th after finishing the campaign with 11 wickets in seven matches.

In the all-rounders’ rankings, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza retained the No. 1 spot with a career-best rating of 328 points, while India’s Hardik Pandya remained second with 299 points.

New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner climbed three places to ninth in the all-rounders’ rankings after registering a personal-best rating, while England’s Will Jacks moved up five positions to 13th following his performances during the tournament.
