Virat Kohli hugged captain Rohit Sharma after the team’s four-wicket victory over Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy semi-final on Tuesday. A video circulating on social media shows Kohli embracing Rohit while heading downstairs to shake hands with Australian players.

Kohli was instrumental in India’s run chase against Australia, scoring 84 runs off 98 balls. He fell short of a century but set several records during his innings.

Kohli and Rohit have often been seen sharing special moments. Last year, they stole the spotlight by holding the tricolor together after India’s T20 World Cup victory in Barbados. The two senior players remain crucial as India aims to secure back-to-back ICC titles within a year.

The victory not only sent India into their third consecutive Champions Trophy final but also helped erase the disappointment of the 2023 ODI World Cup final loss to Australia. The Indian dressing room erupted in joy after KL Rahul sealed the win with a six off Glenn Maxwell’s bowling.

The match saw crucial contributions from several senior players. Shreyas Iyer added 45 runs, while Rahul remained unbeaten on 42. Hardik Pandya’s quickfire 28, including massive sixes off Adam Zampa, helped India finish the chase comfortably.

Earlier, Australia posted 264 runs after opting to bat first. Steve Smith top-scored with 79, while Alex Carey added 61. Mohammed Shami led the Indian bowling attack with three wickets, while Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja took two each.

India will now face the winner of the South Africa versus New Zealand semi-final in the final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on March 9.
