Rajasthan Royals pacer Sandeep Sharma bowled a rare 11-ball final over during the Indian Premier League match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. The over, filled with extras, turned the momentum in Delhi's favour during the final overs of the first innings.

Sharma, who had impressed with just 14 runs conceded in his first three overs, struggled in the 20th over. He gave away four wides and one no-ball as the over stretched to 11 legal deliveries. He eventually conceded 19 runs in the over.

With this performance, Sharma joined an unwanted list of bowlers who have delivered 11-ball overs in IPL history. Others on the list include Mohammed Siraj for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Mumbai Indians in 2023, Tushar Deshpande for Chennai Super Kings against Lucknow Super Giants in 2023, and Shardul Thakur for Kolkata Knight Riders against an unnamed team earlier this season.

Delhi Capitals, batting first after losing the toss, posted 188 for 5. Abishek Porel top-scored with 49 off 37 balls. KL Rahul made 38 off 32 while captain Axar Patel added a quick 34 off 14. Tristan Stubbs remained unbeaten on 34 off 18 balls. Jofra Archer was Rajasthan’s most successful bowler with figures of 2 for 32.

Delhi posted a competitive 188 for 5 in the first innings. Opener Abishek Porel top-scored with 49 runs off 37 balls, while KL Rahul made 38 off 32. Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs contributed key late runs.

Jofra Archer led Rajasthan’s bowling attack with figures of 2 for 32 in four overs. However, it was Sharma’s lengthy final over that shifted the momentum firmly in Delhi’s favour.
