West Indies cricket team and South Africa national cricket teams are set to leave India on Tuesday after being stranded in the country following their early exits from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to travel disruptions linked to the conflict in the Middle East.

West Indies have been in Kolkata since their elimination from the tournament after a five-wicket loss to India in the Super Eight on March 1. South Africa were also unable to depart after losing to New Zealand in the semifinal on March 4.

The teams’ travel plans were affected by airspace closures across parts of West Asia following escalating tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

Reports said that West Indies head coach Darren Sammy is expected to depart earlier, leaving Monday night via Singapore, while the rest of the West Indies squad will travel on Tuesday aboard a chartered flight.

South Africa’s squad will depart from Kolkata for Johannesburg. According to the reports, three South African players, Keshav Maharaj, George Linde and Jason Smith, have already left for New Zealand to join the team for a bilateral series.

The tour includes five Twenty20 internationals scheduled to begin on March 15.
