India national cricket team and Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah has sparked fresh injury concerns after visiting the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru just days before the start of IPL 2026. However, a recent report has clarified that Bumrah’s visit is part of a planned workload management program rather than a response to a new injury.

According to ESPNcricinfo, "Bumrah is at the CoE primarily to work on strength and conditioning. It is understood that the plan for Bumrah to work at CoE has been devised by the BCCI medical team with the focus on India's white-ball tour of England in July where they will play five T20Is and three ODIs."

Bumrah, who has a history of back issues and underwent surgery in 2025, has been carefully managed by the BCCI. The board has often rested him from less critical assignments to ensure peak performance in major tournaments.

Bumrah recently played a key role in India’s title-winning campaign at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, finishing as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets. He took four wickets in the final against New Zealand national cricket team. In the IPL, Jasprit Bumrah has taken 18 wickets in 12 matches at an economy rate of 6.67 for the Mumbai Indians last season. Overall, he has 186 wickets in 148 appearances for the franchise, the second-most behind Lasith Malinga.

The 31-year-old is expected to join the Mumbai Indians camp soon ahead of their IPL 2026 opener against the Kolkata Knight Riders on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium.
